Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank (IFB)

IFB Hamburg has successfully migrated its website to CoreMedia 12

With this relaunch, IFB Hamburg is making its website fit for the digital future.

The client

Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank (IFB Hamburg) is the central point of contact for public funding in the Hanseatic city. Private individuals, companies, and institutions can find information and offers relating to financial support in the areas of housing construction and economic and innovation promotion here. The IFB Hamburg website serves as a central information and service medium.

The initial situation

The last full relaunch of the IFB website took place in 2019. At that time, the content and structures were completely rebuilt and adapted to the portfolio of services available at the time. In the following years, selective enhancements and adjustments were made, interactive tools were added, and individual page areas were optimized. Nevertheless, it now became clear that the technical and editorial possibilities had reached their limits. Navigation was complex and there was a lack of options for forward planning of content. At the same time, the demands on the website as a central service platform grew – both from the user and company perspective.

Reorientation for a sustainable user experience

With this in mind, IFB Hamburg decided to revamp its website both technically and structurally. The goal was to migrate the website to a modern content management system and prepare it for sustainable further development. At the same time, the editorial work was to be optimized and the technological basis was to be made future-proof. IFB Hamburg's long-term vision is a powerful, accessible, and service-oriented website that can be flexibly adapted to new requirements.

After Monday Consulting won the tender, a new, component-based front end was developed in Storybook, following the proven atomic design principle—a standard in modern web development with which Monday Consulting already has extensive experience. This allowed the individual website components to be created efficiently, combined flexibly, and seamlessly integrated into CoreMedia, where they were enriched with the necessary functions for live operation. A central element of the migration was the transfer of existing content to the new system. Parallel to the migration, processes for the editorial team were redesigned and automated. Thanks to time-controlled publication, the editorial team can now plan content in advance, create and maintain it in CoreMedia, and publish it online or offline automatically – without any additional manual effort.

“With the migration of our website, we have taken a decisive step toward a modern, service-oriented platform. Working with Monday Consulting has been a great benefit for us and has created the basis for long-term further development.”

Hannah Goldmann, Press and Public Relations Officer at IFB Hamburg.

More efficiency and accessibility for the new website

The new website offers numerous advantages for both users and the editorial team. Separating content and layout allows content to be maintained flexibly and reused in different contexts. The user-friendly interface in CoreMedia and an integrated preview function make editorial work much easier. At the same time, the new architecture meets the latest accessibility requirements.

In particular, the consistent modularization of the website through atomic design has a positive effect on maintenance efficiency. Content can be adapted more quickly, pages can be put together flexibly, and new content can be integrated with little effort. This creates the perfect conditions for the continuous, user-centered development of the website.

Continuous optimization for an even better user experience

The successful migration marked the beginning of IFB Hamburg's digital future. The new website is technically robust, editorially flexible, and consistently tailored to the needs of its target groups. In the coming months, the project will move into its next phase: the focus will be on continuous development – with new content, additional services, and digital offerings that will steadily improve the user experience. At the same time, the editorial workflows will be further optimized so that content can be maintained even more quickly and conveniently in the future.
