Client

Headquartered in Berlin, the German Insurance Association (GDV) is the umbrella organization for companies in the German private insurance sector. A workforce of around 450 employees manages well over 400 million insurance contracts that provide comprehensive risk insurance and pension planning, with customers including private households, businesses, trade persons and public organizations.

Initial situation

The GDV needed a new content management system. This had become an acute problem as a result of changing requirements from the GDV’s users and members, and because editors of online websites were no longer able to work efficiently. The Association therefore intended to use the new solution to meet the new needs of its user groups while ensuring it could respond flexibly to future developments.

New websites: innovative content managed centrally

The new GDV websites offer an optimal range of services for the Association’s user groups. At www.dieversicherer.de, for example, users can find up-to-date and clearly presented content about the insurance topics they are interested in. Similarly, the Association portal at www.gdv.de keeps members informed about the latest industry news, the work performed by the GDV as well as political representation. Both websites, as well as the company’s Facebook page at facebook.com/DieVERSiCHERER.de, are now managed centrally.

All of this has been made possible by Monday Consulting migrating the previous WordPress site to the latest CoreMedia system featuring Formcentric. The document model was adjusted to ensure that all relevant content could be presented as well as incorporating some new formats. The new consumer website includes interactive features like a pension calculator and a lookup tool for regional car insurance premiums. Thanks to the integration of the newsletter and CMS with the help of Formcentric, mailing campaigns can now be easily designed and launched. The new technical environment has also resulted in improved availability: stability is significantly better for both websites, which are now continuously available, even under peak load.

An extensive dataset plus new formats

The content repository to migrate was considerable, featuring over 2,500 articles, 1,700 downloads and 100 videos—all previously offered to users and members via WordPress. The new solution also enables the embedding of modern formats such as infographics, statistics or podcasts, ensuring the effective deployment of content to two separate channels. So the new system naturally presented editing staff with a lot of changes.

Migration of all content (pages/articles) to CoreMedia.

Editing staff can publish much faster using CoreMedia.

Rock-solid stability even when the system is under load.

Achieving goals with design and change management

For the frontend, Monday Consulting developed two matching designs to ensure an optimized user experience. Monday Consulting also provided support to ten GDV editors as part of a change management process This simplified the changeover to the new system while ensuring that staff could exploit the dynamic potential of the new CMS as quickly as possible.
